The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival is encouraging all past, present and prospective participants in the iconic Sydney running event to run to work this Friday 26 April, wearing their Blackmores Sydney Running Festival singlet in support of Run to Work Day and those affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy.
Run To Work Day encourages people to run their commute to or from work on Friday 26 April 2013 and donate the money that they would otherwise have spent on travel and parking to a charity/non-profit organisation.
By participating in Run To Work Day 2013 runners can directly support those families most affected by the tragic events of the Boston Marathon by donating to 'The One Fund Boston', a central fund to help the people affected by what happened in Boston on 15 April.
Editor of UK Endurance Magazine, Run Relay and Run To Work Day co-founder Simon Blackburn has put out the call internationally, including runners in Australia.
“What happened in Boston touched all runners and we have responded by creating a unique way that the global running community can show their support on one day though running and donating,' said Blackburn,
Blackmores Sydney Running Festival Race Director Wayne Larden echoes Blackburn’s comments and is encouraging participants in the Sydney event to get involved this Friday.
"I think Run to Work Day provides an excellent opportunity for the Sydney running community to show their commitment to the victims in Boston," said Larden.
“Runners, and in particular marathon runners, are a unique and special breed of people - they are tough, they have a fortitude like no other, they fight when they face adversity and they defeat it on their way to the finish line."
Runners can register for FREE at www.runtoworkday.com then on Friday 26 April simply click on The One Fund Boston logo on the event website to donate their travel and parking money.
