Destination NSW has congratulated organisers of the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, after the Sydney Marathon was awarded a Silver Label by the International Association of Athletics Foundations.

Kenyan Willy Koitile has powered home to win the 2013 Blackmores Sydney Marathon in two hours, 13 minutes 48 seconds (2:13:48) as more than 34,000 people ran and walked across the Sydney Harbour Bridge to finish lines at the Opera House and Conservatorium of Music in the 13th Blackmores Sydney Running Festival.
Blackmores Sydney Marathon, part of the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival, now has an extended course cut-off time of six hours, allowing more time for runners to complete their marathon. This new course extension makes the Blackmores Sydney Marathon more accessible for first time marathon runners and for those who like to take their marathon at a more leisurely pace.
Blackmores Sydney Running Festival Race Director Wayne Larden said the extension is a great boost to the event.
The Blackmores Sydney Running Festival is encouraging all past, present and prospective participants in the iconic Sydney running event to run to work this Friday 26 April, wearing their Blackmores Sydney Running Festival singlet in support of Run to Work Day and those affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy.
Run To Work Day encourages people to run their commute to or from work on Friday 26 April 2013 and donate the money that they would otherwise have spent on travel and parking to a charity/non-profit organisation.
